Home Guard and British Army
Robert Tinneny

Robert was the
eldest son of William and Mary Ellen McShane Tinneny
of Belturbet, County Cavan, Ireland and London,
England. He served in the Home Guard and the
British Army. While in the Army, according to his
brother Joseph, Robert fought in combat during World
War II and contacted tuberculosis. He
struggled with the disease for several years and
died from it July 1, 1950 at 28 years of age.

of Robert and Bridget Rooney Tinneny of
Belturbet, County Cavan; great-grandson
of Francis
and Anne Elliott Tinneny of
Belturbet and great-great-grandson of Thomas
Tinneny of
Goladuff, Newtownbutler, County Fermanagh, Northern Ireland. |
